The end of a marriage can arise from various issues and factors

Couples in Illinois who are considering the end of a marriage might be surprised about a few facts regarding the process. One is that, statistically, February is one of the most common months in which people decide to move forward with a divorce. Research has shown that fewer people get divorced toward the end of a year in November and December, and instead wait until the early months of the new year to end their marriage. This could have to do with finances as people typically have more bills during the holiday season.

People who are considered older are also increasingly getting divorced. The number of people who are younger and divorcing has stayed the same or dropped, while a growing number of people older than 50 are ending their marriages. Sociologists believe that this is because people are becoming more economically independent, and thus can afford to end their marriage later in life.

Finances usually play a substantial part in divorces. Because a couple might not deem it economically feasible to part ways, a rise in the value of person asset portfolios could explain why a couple decides to end a marriage at certain times. For example, because February is close to tax time, the couple could make the choice to file as a couple and then end their marriage after filing their taxes because it is better for them financially.

There are many reasons why a couple chooses to end their marriage. In many instances, emotions and a simple inability to stay married are justifications for the divorce. In others, there are ancillary issues such as finances and disagreements about raising children that can lead to the end of a marriage. Regardless of why a couple chooses to part ways, speaking to an attorney experienced in divorce legal issues is imperative.
