Dispute Resolution
Douglas Law provides legal advocacy, representation and counsel in all areas of dispute resolution
including litigation, arbitration and mediation. It is our philosophy that disputes should be resolved
outside of the courtroom as economically and expeditiously as reasonable parties allow.
Unfortunately, not all disputes resolve in this manner. When litigation becomes necessary, Mr.
Douglas takes an aggressive approach tempered by professional courtesy.
Areas of dispute resolution include: Claim of Lien Foreclosures; Builders Trust Act Violations;
Breach of Contract; Conversion; Fraud; MIOSHA violations and related safety matters such as
wrongful death and serious injuries; State Residential Builders License Actions; Zoning Matters;
Property Disputes; and Plat Amendments, among many others.
Collections
Douglas Law is fully committed to collecting for the unpaid performer. Whether a supplier, subcontractor, or general contractor,
collecting for unpaid performance is a large part of the business. Douglas Law understands this and takes an aggressive approach to
collections, whether the sums are secured by a Claim of Lien, payment bond or not at all.
Douglas Law has well developed relationships with Certified Public Accountants, Certified Fraud Examiners and IRS Enrolled Agents,
who assist in the investigative process where complex financial schemes, mismanagement or fraud are at issue.
Because it is a legitimate concern of any business to consider the value of pursuing unpaid accounts, Construction Lawyer Jonathon
Douglas provides clients with an honest look at the economic realities of collecting prior to, and during the progression of, any case.
Construction Liens
Douglas Law has represented parties across the Country in meeting their construction lien law needs.
Whether you are a project owner or construction industry supplier, subcontractor, general contractor or laborer, we will provide our best
efforts to secure the relief to which you are entitled under the Michigan construction lien laws.
We practice regularly on both sides of the Michigan Construction Lien Act by both assisting construction trades with lien perfection and
foreclosure under the Michigan construction lien law and representing project owners in the proper removal and aggressive defense of
construction liens recorded on the project.
Bond Claims
In addition to construction liens, Douglas Law handles bond claims on those projects covered by a Payment Bond; and, in circumstances
where enforcement of Performance Bond provisions becomes an issue.

you are selling a home for sale by owner, or buying a home from the owner directly, our firm can help.
Commercial sales and purchases are equally a part of the practice.
Corporate Matters
Douglas Law handles all corporate matters. Much of construction law involves corporate issues. Whether it is starting a new entity for
development of property, the purchase of a business or its assets, partnering with others, or basic employment issues, Douglas Law is
prepared to handle the corporate issues necessary to meet your ends.
Landlord-Tenant Matters
Whether the situation involves an nonpaying tenant, a squatter or other unresolved issue within a Landlord-Tenant relationship, Mr.
Douglas will advise and assist in disposing of the matter effectively and efficiently. We handle evictions, constructive eviction claims and
money judgments. Attorney Jonathon Douglas will also work hard to mediate resolutions between willing parties in a Landlord-Tenant
relationship.
Safety Issues and Injuries
While Workers Compensation laws may be adequate for the typical injury, where there is a wrongful death or serious bodily injury
resulting from a failure to maintain a safe work environment, or other cause, or where there is an uninsured environment, there will likely
be a need for legal representation to be adequately compensated for your losses. Workers Compensation does not compensate a party
for pain and suffering, disfigurement, or wage loss beyond the workers compensation coverage. When an accident is caused by third
party negligence, faulty equipment, a dangerous property condition, or an intentional act of the employer, there may be other sources of
compensation in addition to workers compensation.
